Blue Hubbard Squash
This wasn’t the best year for squash, but we did get five sugar pumpkins, three delicata squash, and this nice blue Hubbard squash. Isn’t it pretty? That’s all for today. I just wanted to share the picture of this nice squash.

The 10 Year Challenge 
Bad squash year for us too. I have about 8 sugar pie pumpkins still out on the vine in the patch. I need to bring them into the greenhouse to finish ripening as the cloudy short days of sunshine and the much cooler temperatures are making the final ripening process go at a snails pace. Some sunshine and more warmth would do the trick. It’s a miracle really that I will manage to get any of them to maturity this year given how late the fruits were set – so I will be content with any success.
The blue hubbard is a beauty. How much did it weight?

Yes, a disappointing squash year all around. My sweet corn was pretty pathetic too (I only planted a tiny bit anyway, but still). The Hubbard weighed a bit over 4 lbs.

Sad squash year here, too. None as pretty as your Hubbard! First the birds ate all the squash and zuchinni seeds I planted. Then we had our July-that-never-was! I managed 3 small pie pumpkins and a butternut so tiny, I think I’ll use it as a decorative gourd. 🙂 Oh well, hope springs eternal for next year, doesn’t it!
