Berry anticipation and a peek around the garden

Raised beds in the lower garden

Raised beds in the lower garden

We’ve been harvesting strawberries for a few weeks now, but the raspberries and blueberries have not really started to ripen yet. The raspberries should begin ripening any day now, especially since we finally have some warm, even downright hot, weather in our forecast. You can see the raspberry beds in the very back of the picture above. The raspberry canes are huge – some are over seven feet tall!

Below are some random pictures of how the garden is progressing so far this season.  Most things are still a little behind schedule (no cucumbers in June this year), but I am hopeful the upcoming warm weather will give them just the boost they need.

Our raspberries are really tall this year too. I need to get out and water them this evening – did all of the garden BUT the raspberry patch this weekend and with the coming heat this week I need to circle back around and get them properly soaked too.

Your Italian Sweet peppers are quite a bit further ahead than mine. I have flowers and I believe a few fruits forming but nothing identifiable at this point. I think they will launch with the heat this week. Same with the cukes.

Your garden looks really lush and filled out. Are you ready for the August Harvest/Preserving mania?!

I had never heard of pineapple sage jelly…sounds interesting; I just might have to try it!
