Three Golden Sex Links, one Golden Laced Wyandotte
After our first baby chicks met a sad fate, we decided to try again. Here you can see our four new baby chicks: three Golden Sex Links and one Golden Laced Wyandotte. The chicks are now about a week old and appear quite healthy so far. Cheep cheep.

I love the coloring on the darker one. What are their names?
They are very sweet! I have to agree with Cathie’s comment that the darker one has some beautiful coloring/markings. I sure hope these little mites grow up safely and produce lots of eggs for you.
The “funnest” part for me with the baby chicks was discovering how much of the chicken behaviors are instinctive right from the egg. My second batch were scratchin’ their food on day one…hard to keep the bowl full!
Thanks for the kind words – we are definitely up to our ears in projects, but next spring will be so awesome and relaxed compared to this year, that I keep telling myself it is worth it.
I fully understand your plight with the chicks and bunnies. Our chicks we kept on lockdown from the dogs in our guest room and if a door had been left open they would have met the same fate as yours. I see lots of pics of dogs hanging out with chickens but those are NOT our dogs! As for the bunnies – our dogs have gotten three adults since we moved in – two of them this spring. I cried each time. Oh wait no I didn’t.
